Pigeon’s Confession
Cassette Tape Design, 2026

Illustrated for the background track composed for the installation artwork “Pigeon’s Confession,” a part of the GAME.Play Exhibition by UAL Collaborative Residency 2025-2026, by Xindi Hu, Sam Hwang, Yusuke Kuriki, Ziyan Liu, and Tricia Wong.

“Pigeon’s Confession” examines language as an embodied archive of trauma and environment. Rather than grasping semantics, a child acquires speech through maternal gestures and conditioned reflexes. These repetitive loops reveal a history of loss and care, suggesting that trauma is inherited through atmospheric imprints—where memory is performed, rather than remembered.

A narrative about the messiness of change and being scared together. We often feel like isolated worlds, without noticing how our paths collide. It explores the choice we face in a shifting landscape: to drift through the uncertainty alone, or to be “hideous monsters” together.

Inspired by a Wanchai bar, this work explores friction between sterile urbanism and human connection. By 3D scanning clay models into frame-by-frame animation, it transforms monochrome symbols into vibrant illustrations. Integrating Hong Kong street sounds, this piece honors the power to build belonging and beauty within narrow, indifferent urban gaps.

Inspired by a dream, this narrative serves as a tribute to childhood friendship. Employing a primitive, childlike aesthetic, the work utilizes a dual-track narrative structure: the same imagery conveys both a surface tale and a hidden, "true" story. Incorporating nostalgic Hong Kong culinary motifs, it explores memory, desire, and the subversive power of the storyteller.
